AN ANTIDOTE FOR BOX JELLYFISH STINGS
This story was originally broadcasted on 2SER’s The Daily.
Imagine you’re at the beach. The sun is beaming down, it’s a beautiful summer’s day. You wade into the water without a care in the world. Then suddenly you notice something at your feet. It’s a jellyfish! But not just any jellyfish! A box jellyfish.
As one of the deadliest creatures in the world, their stings can be fatal. You start to flail your arms around and run out of the water in a panic. Well… panic no more!
The Daily‘s Victor Petrovic was joined by Associate Professor Greg Neely of the University of Sydney who, along with a team of pain researchers, has developed an antidote which blocks the painful sting of box jellyfish.
